Fishing Updates!!!

Sorry I haven't posted much, kids have been very busy with baseball and I haven't been on the water all that much yet.  After a terrible opening week it finally seems that the warmer weather has helped the walleye bite.  Lots of people have been coming in the shop telling us of good catches.  Trolling small crankbaits has been very good for some friends of mine who have had their best luck right in the middle of the day when the water is the warmest.  I have also heard of some good catches coming at night.  Most of the fish have been good "eaters" in the 15 to 20 inch range.  I spent the past couple of days fishing with long-time charter clients Jim and his son Jim (Jimmy) Lewinsky from the Chicago area.  They are great fishermen, and great friends also.  We lost our good friend Denny Gustafson a few years ago, who also used to come up with them, and this was the first time we've fished together since then.  Thursday we only landed 4 keepers, but I think that the previous nights storms and cold front might have had the fish shut down some because we didn't see anybody catching them Thursday morning in an area where it's been pretty good lately.  Yesterday was a different story, we had a great day catching many fish, and releasing many nice fish over the slot limit as well.  There was only one small spot where we found any concentration of fish, and once we got them dialed in it was a fun morning.  We caught all the fish on Walleyes Choice (http://www.walleyeschoice.com) harnesses trolled behind 1 3/4 ounce bottom bouncers.  I-76, I-51 and C-30 were our best producers.  Unfortunately, it looks like we're headed for a major cooling period and some north/northwest winds for the next several days.  Usually that blows out the warm water and slows the fishing some, we will just have to wait and see.  Good luck from all of us in the Bays de Noc area.
