I'd fish BBDN for burbo... Lots of them there and the occasional hog eye with some big pike too.

upper part of BBDN is good in 12-15' of water, but no structure so they are pretty scattered - tip-ups seem to work best there, but further out in the bay where you can get some sharp breaks they can be more concentrated and can be jigged. I've done well for them all day long in BBDN, but Big Bay is enormous with very little fishing pressure, so very hard to figure out where to start or how to pattern it - just takes lots of time/years.

Some guys do OK for them off Terrace and south from there by jigging around the breaklines but mostly all after dark down there, but then again I've caught some smaller ones right up next to Center Reef, so you never know.

bacon wrapped burbot loin chunks have repeatedly won our fish camp blind taste test year after year - to the point now where we don't even compare them to walleye anymore.

But I love thrill of jigging eyes more personally.

good luck

You can go off the Garden launch or Fayette with no problem. I would jig off Garden bluff for burbot. A buddy went from Fayette north of Garden bay without any problem. Another friend went out 2 miles in front of Fayette point. South of Burnt Bluff I would be careful.

I haven't fished LBDN for Burbot, but do pretty well on BBDN for them. I usually fish in the shallow water for them (4'-13'), but they can be found throughout the bay.

You can't sit at one hole all day and expect the fish to come to you. You have to move around to locate the fish. Like "benzie rover" said it takes years to find the right spot and once you do, it might not produce every year. I'm sure there are hundreds of spots on the bay that produce you just have to find the one right for you.

Myself and three other guys went out Friday and did alright on Burbot. Between the four of us we got 15 total, which was an ok day.

Any type of Glow hook seems to be the ticket. I've found out bigger seems to be better. I use salmon spoon size jigs and it seems to work really well for me. Also you don't have to use bait but it seems to increase the odds.

The ice was pretty good where we fish but there were plenty of slush pockets.
