Little Bay de Noc Fishing Reports

I'm fairly sure anyone who fishes for walleye at night has run into the problem of not being able to see the line counter in the dark. Currently, I find myself stripping out line to what I think is the length needed, pulling out a flashlight/turning on the headlamp, then trying to dial it in with the flashlight/headlamp again and again. I guess I find it a bit annoying to do, somewhat because my headlamp doesn't angle that far down. Also, I end up with a lot of "light pollution" of beams entering the water. I'm a little bit paranoid about spilling light over the side of the boat into the water. I run my bow/stern light, but try to keep other lights to a minimum.

I've been on the search since last fall to find a solution, and I think I've found something. The product is called the Nite Ize Moonlit LED Area Light. I'm thinking I'd be able to wrap the flexible band around the rod/reel seat and angle the light over the counter itself. The link is here http://www.niteize.com/product/MoonLit.asp

I picked up one of them and tested it out at home, it seems to work pretty well. I have some things to work on to make it fully functional, but I think it'll do exactly what I'm after.

Anyone else have a solution they've come up with? I'll follow up with my modifications when finished.
