Now that I did some research on streams open year round to trout and salmon, I grabbed my pole and headed out today. Although there were no takers, I did see and stalk a half dozen steelhead today. I also talked to a guy that was fly fishing the same stretch and he had a similar report. He said he did manage to catch and release a decent hen but other than that, no biters. They seem to be pretty sheepish yet but they're in!
Well, at least you saw some fish. Could be a lot worse! I suspect they will start biting again during the next warm up. Seems like the colder weather slowed down a lot of the spawning runs...
