I have spoke to folks catching Steelhead on both the Rapid and Whitefish Rivers. Haven't heard anything about Steelhead from the Day's River yet. Just passing it on...

I gotta go get a new license yet! I better get on it cause reports of trout are all over the place.  This could be a stupid question but here goes anyways.  I was always under the impression trout season opened last saturday in April.  Am I missing something?  I'm seeing lots of guys posting pics of trout and reporting on catching em.

Some rivers are open all year for trout. Most have an upstream limit like the Whitefish, Days, and Rapid rivers. Most of the fishing now is for Steelhead. You can find a list of the rivers open all year in the trout and salmon guide...

As I learned this year, most of the "early season steelhead streams" that used to open on April 1 to an upstream limit, are now open all year for steelhead.

Been many years since I fished early season trout so not sure when this change occurred?
