With all the wind Sunday, my dad, myself, and a buddy of mine headed inland to look for some crappies. We did really well this time last year, and hoped to duplicate our success. Well, we didn't. Water temps last year in the same lake were 55 to 60 degrees. This trip, it was about 10 degrees cooler, and the bite was off. We ended up catching 6 small pike, a largemouth, and only one crappie. On the plus side, it was a 13 incher! It'll probably be at least another week until they turn on. This lake has a sand and rock bottom, and will take longer to warm up. If you know a lake with a dark bottom, downed timber in at least 3 to 4 FOW, and temps in the mid to upper 50's, you might want to check it out!
